on the quest for feedback

For my first design, Google’s UX course required me to test my prototype, then iterate on the design and implement feedback. So I set out on a quest to get feedback. Of course I was proud of myself for having made my first interactive prototype all by myself, so the first people I showed it to were all close friends of mine. The design is not confidential, so I sent out a link to the first high fidelity prototype and thought why not ask my friends for feedback while we’re already on the topic? As friends are, they were very encouraging and supportive…

But I could not get any useful feedback out of them. No matter what I asked, I was blocked by a wall of positivity about how proud they are of me for developing new skills. It was flattering and frustrating at the same time.

Unless your friends are ready to roast you, I suggest seeking feedback from someone else.
